JessC’s “My Style” Concert Brings Therapeutic Rock to the Highlands of Malaysia
Malaysian rock princess and therapeutic artist delivers three hours of healing music and multisensory spectacle at Genting Highlands
Genting Highlands, Malaysia – What do you get when you merge clinical medicine with theatrical rock and healing frequencies? According to Jessie Chung, known globally by her stage name JessC, the result is “My Style” — a genre-defying musical production that left thousands uplifted, moved, and inspired.
Held at the Arena of Stars in Resorts World Genting, this three-hour concert was no ordinary showcase of pop hits. With 33 songs, a live band combining Western and traditional Chinese instruments, and over 5,000 attendees, JessC turned her personal ethos into a public experience — one where music doesn’t just entertain, but heals.
Where Medicine Meets Music
JessC is not only a seasoned recording artist and actress, but also a Doctor of Integrative Clinical Medicine and a certified therapeutic musician. Her concert was crafted with the same precision and empathy found in the clinic — except the stage replaced the stethoscope.
“I’m not here to impress,” she shared in a pre-recorded opening monologue. “I’m here to inspire. Let this be a night of emotional detox and energetic renewal.”
The production lived up to her words. From immersive lighting that painted the stage like a cosmic tapestry to emotional crescendos that left her — and many in the audience — in tears, “My Style” was as much an experience as it was a concert.
Multilingual, Multicultural, and Multisensory
Songs were delivered in English, Mandarin, and Malay, reflecting JessC’s multicultural background and pan-Asian reach. Backed by a unique orchestration of around 30 instruments, her set included original works like “One Chance”, “Be Strong”, and “Dekati”, as well as theatrical numbers from her past stage plays such as “The Butterfly Lovers” and “Tearless Sky.”
At one point, she accompanied herself on four different instruments — piano, organ, keyboard, and keytar — underscoring her versatility as both a performer and composer.
JessC also shared the spotlight with Malaysian music icon Fauziah Latiff, delivering a poignant duet of “Tak Terpisah”, a song about unity and enduring friendship that resonated especially strongly in today’s fragmented world.
Emotion at the Forefront
Visually, the show traced a narrative arc through elaborate costume changes — from a jewel-encrusted “Diamond Warrior Princess” to a Chinese-red closing gown that symbolised power and celebration.
Yet, the most human moment came not through wardrobe or lights, but emotion: During “Love in an Instant,” JessC was visibly overwhelmed, pausing mid-song as she wept. Her husband joined her onstage shortly after with flowers and a kiss — a gesture that transformed the grand production into something profoundly intimate.
A Rising International Voice
While JessC has long been a fixture in Southeast Asia, this concert marked a turning point in her international visibility.
Fans from Australia, Indonesia, China, Europe, and the United States attended the show, many of whom have followed the rising popularity of her recent hit “Be Strong.”
“The messages in her music transcend language,” commented a British fan who had flown in from London. “It’s rare to see an artist merge healing and art so seamlessly.”
JessC, reflecting on her journey, said: “Being strong isn’t about never falling — it’s about rising again, with love and light.”
A New Model for Modern Concerts?
In an industry often driven by numbers and spectacle, “My Style” offered something else entirely — a case study in how authenticity, science, and soul can intersect on a stage.
For British and global audiences unfamiliar with therapeutic music as a formal discipline, JessC’s work provides a compelling glimpse into its future. She reminds us that music, at its core, is not just for the ears — but for the spirit.
After this concert, jessC will also bring her English album “Six Feet Deep” will debut alongside a global media tour in 50+ countries and 100 cities—bringing JessC’s voice to the world.
With unmatched versatility and a deep commitment, JessC bridges art, healing, and inspiration on a worldwide scale.
